Available at the Alcona County Library

Interlibrary Loan
This service is offered by all of the Alcona County Branches. "If we don't own it, we'll find it!!" This service is free unless the lending library requests a fee. Please ask at the desk of any of our branches if you are interested in borrowing materials from another library.

Homework Information
Books and computers are available at all branches for homework assignments and research projects. Videos are also available at Harrisville Headquaters.
Michigan and Genealogy Room :
Located at the Harrisville Headquarters, this room is dedicated to Local history, Michigan history and genealogy. A computer terminal is also available to access Internet based genealogy and Michigan sites and the library's various CD ROM databases. We have the Alcona Review and the Lincoln Herald on Microfilm and a Microfilm reader printer. Copies are .20 per page. Please call the Harrisville Headquarters for more details. Each of the three branches located in Caledonia, Lincoln and Mikado have smaller Michigan collections. Please call your local branch for more details.
Reading Programs :
The Alcona County Library offers several reading based programs. All branches participate in the Summer Reading Program. Program information may be obtained at any branch library.

The Alcona County Library's Harrisville Headquarters offers Children's Storytime every Friday morning. This program begins at 10:15 am and ends at 11:00 am. It consists of story's by Miss Barb and a craft project. All ages are welcome.

We also offer a special book distribution program called RIF "Reading is Fundamental". This program offers book distributions to youth of all ages. The times and dates vary. Please call for more details. (989-724-6796.)

Craft Programs :
The Lincoln Branch offers an Adult Craft Class each Monday Morning. Class begins at 9:00 am. Projects vary so please call the Lincoln branch for more details.

During the Summer Reading program, Drop In Craft's are offered at each branch. Through out the year, crafts are offered at the Harrisville Headquarters. For dates and times, please contact your local branch.

Family Programs :
Sponsored in part by the Michigan Arts and Humanities Council, United Way and local contributions, these programs occur at various times during the year. and Summer. Three programs are traditionally offered and are art, dance, music or theater oriented. These are paid performers chosen from the Michigan Arts and Humanities program book.

Youth Reading Computer :
This computer was made possible through a grant from Ronald McDonald House Children's Charities. It is located at the Harrisville Branch. Youth may use the computer for one hour time slots. It contains software that supports reading skills and phonics. For more information, please call the Harrisville branch at 989-724-6796.

Computer Classes :
Computer Classes are offered at the Harrisville Branch. Current classes are offered for computer novices. Class subjects include but are not limited to basic internet functions and windows operations. Classes are free but registration is required. Farm Animal Day
This program occurs annually. Located at the Harrisville library, we transform the front lawn into a small farm, showcasing local live stock. We have everything from chickens to emu. Slotted for every Memorial Weekend, this program takes place on Saturday and begins at 10:00 am after the Memorial Walk. The library facilities are closed that day.
